Claudia Sheinbaum Rejects Threats from the U.S. Ambassador

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed her rejection of the words of the next American ambassador, Ronald Johnson, who did not rule out the possibility of taking unilateral actions, including military ones, against the cartels. During her morning conference at the National Palace this Friday, she emphasized the importance of respect in coordination and bilateral relations, highlighting respect for national sovereignty as fundamental.

The president expressed her expectation of maintaining a good relationship with Johnson once his position is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, but stressed the importance of respect towards Mexico. These statements come after Johnson's confirmation session before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where he suggested that despite preferring Mexican support in the fight against the cartels, "Trump takes U.S. security so seriously" that he would not rule out any options.

"Mexico deserves respect," Sheinbaum emphasized, assuring that unilateral measures "are not on the table, nor on the chair, nor on the floor, nor on any side."
