Grupo Salinas denounced that the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) is using all the tools at its disposal to chase and intimidate citizens critical of the government instead of investigating real criminals. According to the company, the actions of the UIF are illegal and constitute excuses to harass those they consider their enemies.
In a statement issued by Grupo Salinas, the head of the UIF, Pablo Gómez, was accused of acting like a 'Stalinist commissioner' who pursues detractors instead of real criminals. The company asserts that the allegations from the UIF are false and laden with militant slogans.
The controversy arises after the UIF reported on the review of an amparo granted to Grupo Salinas by a judge, which led the company to claim they will use all legal tools at their disposal to resist what they consider attacks from collectivists seeking to silence critical citizens.
