The incident occurred when the officers monitoring the customs area of the penitentiary center, located on Ermita Iztapalapa Boulevard and Zacatepec Street in the Santa Martha Acatitla neighborhood, noticed suspicious behavior from a person during the inspection of visitors to the inmates.

In compliance with police procedures and respecting human rights, the agents conducted a preventive inspection on the 53-year-old woman. During the inspection, they discovered that she had 238 psychotropic pills taped to her back, packaged in a transparent plastic bag, five bags of a white powdery substance resembling cocaine, and a transparent plastic wrap that appeared to be marijuana.

Following the find, the Penitentiary Custody officers detained the woman, informed her of her constitutional rights, and placed her at the disposal of the Public Ministry agent to define her legal situation. It was confirmed that the detainee had entered the Penitentiary System of Mexico City three times in 2006 for the crime of extortion, and on two occasions in 2009 for bribery, extortion various, and organized crime.
