Legal Tensions Rise as Fox Sports Targets Jesús Martínez

Jesús Martínez, owner of Grupo Pachuca, one of the most influential businessmen in Mexican football, is in the midst of a legal dispute with Fox Sports Mexico over the broadcasting rights of Club Pachuca's matches. After repeated violations of a previously imposed injunction, the judge has been requested to enforce an arrest order against him.

In light of the possibility of imminent arrest, Fox Sports Mexico has asked the judge to put the arrest order against Martínez into effect, arguing that they will exhaust all legal avenues to assert their rights and prevent future transgressions by Grupo Pachuca. The judge has warned that in case of recidivism, Martínez could face up to 24 hours of arrest as a coercive measure.

Amid this legal confrontation, Paulo Díez, attorney for Fox Sports Mexico, has criticized Grupo Pachuca's stance and emphasized the consequences of defying a court order, pointing out that such attitudes create an environment of impunity that affects the entire industry.

The repeated violation of the previously imposed injunction has led to the legal dispute between Grupo Pachuca and Fox Sports Mexico reaching a critical point. Despite the prohibition of broadcasting Pachuca's matches through any platform other than Fox Sports Mexico, Grupo Pachuca has again disobeyed the court order by broadcasting a match via a streaming service from Fox Corporation.

This recidivism in failing to comply with the court order increases the legal consequences for Jesús Martínez. Grupo Pachuca has disobeyed the prohibition on broadcasting matches through unauthorized channels on two occasions, which has led to the situation escalating and the possibility of arrest for contempt being raised.
