In an interview with media on Tuesday, March 18, Ricardo Anaya mentioned that the laws are there and the crimes exist in the Penal Code. He also referred to some words from President Sheinbaum where she accused him and the opposition of using the case of the field in Teuchitlán, Jalisco, to attack her Government.
In his morning conference on Monday, March 17, Anaya responded to the criticisms calling them carrion and hypocrites for their campaign against the movement. He emphasized that the issue of missing persons is serious and called for working together to address it.
Regarding the record of missing persons, Anaya pointed out that current numbers exceed data from 70 years ago. He criticized the lack of actions by the current Government to solve this problem and mentioned that the situation is out of control.
Anaya was also questioned about comments from Gerardo Fernández Noroña, president of the Senate board, regarding the shoes found on the Teuchitlán ranch. Noroña, for his part, criticized Anaya for representing the alleged hypocrisy of the PAN and accused him of not taking a stance in previous cases of violence and disappearances.
Regarding the initiatives sent by Claudia Sheinbaum on the disappearance of persons, Anaya opined that many of those measures are already contemplated in the law, pointing out the importance of the effective application of these laws rather than creating more legislation to solve the problem. Fernández Noroña, in response, praised Anaya's position for at least considering supporting the victims, although he found it hypocritical due to his political history.
