Investigations into the extermination camp discovered in Teuchitlán, Jalisco, indicate that it was operated by Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán, known as 'El Sapo' or 'El 90', linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The collective Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco reported the finding of clandestine crematories, human remains, and belongings of missing persons on the Izaguirre ranch on March 5.

The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office revealed that the site not only functioned as an extermination camp but also as a recruitment place with fake job offers for the CJNG. Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán is identified as the leader of the Immediate Reaction Criminal Elite Group and a close collaborator of 'El Mencho', the cartel leader. He is linked to the disappearance and murder of five young people in Lagos de Moreno in 2023.

Mendoza Gaytán, a native of Michoacán, is the brother of 'El Güero Abundio' and was sanctioned in 2019 by the U.S. Department of the Treasury for his role in the CJNG in Puerto Vallarta. Subsequently, the Financial Intelligence Unit blocked accounts of alleged collaborators for being involved in the murder of the former governor of Jalisco in 2013.

Following the discovery of the extermination camp, the Attorney General's Office, along with the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office, will continue the investigations. More than 1,300 images related to the site controlled by the CJNG have been published, and it is expected that Attorney General Alejandro Gertz Manero will provide details in a press conference scheduled for March 19.
