Claudia Sheinbaum Recognized as Influential Leader

President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed this Wednesday that she has "her feet on the ground" after appearing on the list of the 100 most influential people in the world by the American magazine TIME. In her morning press conference, she commented: "One must always keep one's feet on the ground and assume that if one does work that is up to the level of the people of Mexico, it is thanks to this bond we have with our movement, with history, and with the people."

Sheinbaum was highlighted in the 'Leaders' section of the magazine, along with two other Latin American personalities, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, MarĂa Corina Machado, and the president of Argentina, Javier Milei. The text written by journalist Jorge Ramos highlights Sheinbaum's leadership style as that of a "cool head" and mentions that her focus on cross-border negotiations has earned her "the grudging respect" of President Donald Trump.

The TIME article emphasizes that Sheinbaum faces two major challenges: the violence of drug traffickers and Trump's "expansionist instincts," who has imposed tariffs on Mexico citing drug and migrant trafficking at the border. The president has been recognized in international media such as The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and The New York Times for her handling of the relationship with Trump, attributing this recognition to her values of not betraying and being honest always.

In addition to Sheinbaum, the leaders section of TIME magazine features personalities such as Spanish Teresa Ribera, President Trump, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, tycoon Elon Musk, and the incoming Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz. This recognition, according to Sheinbaum, is more in favor of the people of Mexico than of herself.
