The American president also addressed the possibility of providing resources to migrants to leave U.S. territory, opening the door for a future legal reintegration for those who meet certain requirements.
On the other hand, it has been reported that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security recorded a 97% decrease in "illegal crossings" at the border with Mexico as a result of the intensification of security measures. Furthermore, significant increases in the seizure of weapons and narcotics have been reported in joint operations between both nations.
In the military realm, collaboration between the armed forces of Mexico and the United States has been highlighted, emphasizing the exchange of experiences and mutual respect for sovereignty. Coordination efforts to strengthen security at the border have also been mentioned, through meetings between high-ranking military officials of both nations.
For her part, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has sent a diplomatic note to the United States regarding the possible construction of a military base on the shared border. Sheinbaum clarified that the base would be located on U.S. territory, without implying a violation of sovereignty, and has expressed her interest in maintaining cooperation in security matters.
