Claudia Sheinbaum Denies Ecuador's Allegations

President Claudia Sheinbaum dismissed the accusations coming from Ecuador regarding an alleged plan to attack the president of that country, Daniel Noboa. Ecuadorian media disseminated a military message from April 17 warning about the transfer of 'hitmen from Mexico and other countries' with the intention of carrying out 'terrorist attacks' against the Ecuadorian president, his cabinet, and his team.

In response to these allegations, the Mexican Foreign Ministry categorically denied the accusations, labeling them as 'unscrupulous' narratives lacking evidence. During the Monday morning press conference, President Sheinbaum recalled the statement issued by the SRE in rejection of the unfounded claims.

'The Government of Mexico, through the Foreign Ministry, firmly rejects the repeated and unscrupulous creation of narratives in official statements and leaks of official documents that allude to Mexico as a source of alleged criminal acts or internal situations in that country,' stated the Mexican Foreign Ministry.

The breakdown of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Ecuador was a result of the assault on the Mexican embassy in Quito on April 5, considered a 'flagrant violation of international law' by Mexico. Beyond this incident, the country emphasized its commitment to the principle of non-intervention and its willingness to maintain respectful relations with Ecuador.
