The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has expressed her opposition to the immunity of public servants and has called for a national debate on the matter. In a recent conference, Sheinbaum emphasized that she is not in favor of officials having immunity and that government welfare programs cannot be used for personal purposes.
In relation to the upcoming elections, Sheinbaum urged members of her party, Morena, to refrain from promoting the electoral process set for June 1 in accordance with the rules established by the National Electoral Institute (INE). The president urged to avoid promoting the judicial election and to respect the INE regulations in this regard.
On the other hand, Sheinbaum asked her party colleagues not to use social programs for political purposes or personal promotion. She emphasized the importance of spreading the social programs of the government of Mexico, but not with personal interests. The president also called against vote-buying, corrupt practices, and illegal actions in politics.
In a critical attitude towards her Morena colleagues, Sheinbaum urged them to set aside the "paraphernalia of power" and live in "just moderation," highlighting the importance of avoiding corrupt practices and maintaining transparency in politics. The stance of the president of Mexico has been clear regarding ethics and integrity in the exercise of power.
