President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized on Tuesday during the morning conference the alleged parade of members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Huajúmbaro, Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacán, an event for which she claims an investigation has already been initiated by the authorities. Her statements come after videos were circulated on social media over the weekend showing alleged members of the criminal group being welcomed with cheers and applause by the community's residents in celebration of Holy Week.
In response, today, from the National Palace, the leader was clear in her rejection of such acts, so she has already instructed both local and federal authorities to investigate the individuals behind the parade, and whether any kind of government permit existed. Her statements add to the criticism from the governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, who also denounced that organized crime is allowed to publicly and openly carry out this kind of propaganda strategy.
The normalcy with which people see and experience violence in the municipality of Zinapécuaro was captured in a video. It shows how the residents of Huajúmbaro celebrate Holy Saturday with alleged members of a criminal group to the rhythm of banda music. According to the inhabitants, it is a tradition celebrated every Holy Week.
