
The National Council of Morena approved a series of ethical measures for the party, following the proposal of President Claudia Sheinbaum. The mayor informed the party members about the letter sent by Sheinbaum, emphasizing the need to avoid the politicization of the party and to break any link with criminal groups.
In the letter, the leader called for unity, honesty, and austerity, reminding Morena members of the importance of staying away from corruption and the privileges of the past. Nepotism was prohibited, influencing was urged to be avoided, and the election of candidates through surveys was reaffirmed.
Leader Luisa María Alcalde highlighted the importance of caring for the legacy of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the need to preserve humility within Morena. A united front was established around these ethical principles, also applicable to candidates in coalition and allied parties.
Among the agreements adopted in the assembly are the prohibition of nepotism, non-reelection, and the commitment to act with austerity. The independence of the factual powers, the promotion of equality, and the rejection of the use of public resources for personal or group benefit were established.
The National Council reminded the principles of the 4T and highlighted the importance of maintaining honesty, humility, and simplicity in political action. The need to eradicate local chiefs and practices that favor the inheritance of positions within the party was emphasized.
