The president of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde, shared during the National Council of the party a letter sent by the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, in which she details the principles for the upcoming elections. Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized the importance of unity, urging legislators to remain united and to avoid both sectarianism and excessive pragmatism in their positions.
In the message, Sheinbaum Pardo mentioned humility, simplicity, and other guidelines that party members should adhere to, highlighting the importance of not traveling on private planes or helicopters, not aspiring to wear brand-name clothing, or mistreating people, among other aspects. Additionally, she stressed not using public resources for international trips without justification.
In this context, the president implicitly mentioned the president of the Senate Board, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, who had traveled to Strasbourg, France, to give a speech related to the 4T movement and received criticism for it. Responding to the criticisms, Fernández Noroña explained that he financed a large part of the trip with his own resources, indicating that the Legislative Power only covered part of the ticket cost.
"I paid for the trip with my money. For that, hard work," Fernández Noroña declared, pointing out that he covered the difference to cover the travel expenses. The situation unfolded after the senator's speech abroad, which sparked debate about the use of public resources for activities related to international politics.
