President Claudia Sheinbaum received an 81% citizen approval rate in April. Public perception of her relationship with Donald Trump has improved, with 50% rating it positively. Many also support her handling of economic and security issues, with positive opinions increasing in these areas.

President Claudia Sheinbaum obtained a citizen approval rating of 81% in April, according to the latest national survey by El Financiero, conducted among 1,100 adults. According to the poll, 18% of those surveyed disapprove of the work the president is doing at the helm of the government of Mexico.

The results highlight that perceptions regarding the relationship with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, turned around in the last month. For the first time this year, the proportion of people who rate the relationship between President Sheinbaum and President Trump favorably was greater than those who rate it unfavorably. 50% described it as good or very good, compared to 37% who see it as bad or very bad. In the previous three months of the year, opinions had been the opposite: more people viewed the relationship as bad.

Regarding the announcements that the U.S. government aired in various media in our country about the issue of migration, the survey reveals that 45% of those interviewed said they had seen them. When asked whether such announcements from the U.S. government should be allowed or prohibited, 28% said they should be allowed, while a majority of 64% said they should be prohibited.

In the areas of government performance evaluation, the survey indicates a slight improvement in the economy, where favorable opinions increased from 68% in March to 74% in April, almost recovering the level shown in February, which was 76%, the highest so far. Regarding the handling of corruption, there was also an improvement in the month, with favorable opinions rising from 29% to 39%; and a reduction in negative opinions from 60% to 52% between March and April. In public security, there was a notable increase, from 49% to 57% favorable opinion; although in the area of organized crime, negative opinions still predominate, at 61%. The handling of the Teuchitlán case maintains a majority favorable opinion, although it saw a slight decrease, from 56% to 51%. In the case of social support, the favorable opinion was 83%, being the best-evaluated aspect of Sheinbaum's management.
