Sheinbaum Affirms Good Communication with Trump

The Mexican leader emphasized that despite the differences with Trump, there is good communication between them. During his presidency, Trump pushed for restrictive immigration policies and maintained a constant rhetoric against Mexican organized crime. Sheinbaum mentioned that they have had more than 5 calls, highlighting the importance of keeping open channels of dialogue.

The head of the federal executive emphasized that she does not seek to engage in debates through the media, noting that each has their own way of communicating. Her statements arose in response to previous criticisms from Trump towards Mexico and her government, including public assertions about "being afraid of the narco."

Sheinbaum's diplomatic stance has generated controversy on social media, where some users questioned whether she should respond more firmly or maintain the institutional route. The president opted to uphold respect in bilateral relations, despite the differences of opinion with the former U.S. president.

In a press conference, Sheinbaum addressed Trump's criticisms and his rhetoric against drug cartels, highlighting that although they sometimes do not agree on certain points, mutual respect has prevailed in their communications.
