Mayor's Arrest in Teuchitlán for Organized Crime

During her morning conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum referred to the case of the mayor of Teuchitlán, Jalisco, who was arrested over the weekend and allegedly linked to organized crime groups. Sheinbaum indicated that the Attorney General's Office (FGR) would provide details about the investigation. "The case is being handled by the Attorney General's Office," the president stated.

Sheinbaum mentioned that José Asunción Murguía, the reelected mayor of Teuchitlán, had been leading the local administration for some time at the moment of his arrest. Regarding the case of the ranch in Teuchitlán, where the collective Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco conducted an intervention, Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of maintaining communication with them, after having received a letter from the group.

The president requested the Ministry of the Interior to facilitate direct contact between the collective and the prosecution, with the presence of the victims' prosecutor, Irene Herrerías. Sheinbaum expressed her interest in ensuring that the Guerreros Buscadores group is attended to in all their requests and affirmed that dialogue channels with the federal government would remain open.
