The Attorney General's Office of the State of Guanajuato reported that three people were sentenced for extortion crimes in different municipalities of the state, thanks to citizen complaints and coordinated actions with the Criminal Investigation Agency.
In San Luis de la Paz, Roberto Carlos "N" was convicted for extorting a merchant and threatening to set fire to his business. In Irapuato, Víctor Manuel "N" received a prison sentence for demanding money from the owner of a food business in the city center. In León, Adolfo Jonathan "N" was found guilty of aggravated robbery and extortion for entering an establishment armed and demanding a large sum of money from local merchants.
In another case, a woman identified as Francisca "N" was linked to criminal proceedings for aggravated extortion. The Attorney General’s Office demonstrated that the accused demanded payments as a “fee” under threats, which resulted in her detention by investigation agents.
The institution emphasized that investigations in all cases were carried out with experts, analysts, and specialized agents, encouraging citizens to report any acts of extortion. It was reminded that reports can be made through the number 800 DNUNCIA, the PROCURAPP application, a text message to 477 399 0888, or on the official website of the Attorney General's Office.
In each case, the Public Ministry presented sufficient evidence to demonstrate the responsibility of the accused before the judge, and a call was made to possible victims to report if they have been threatened by the perpetrators.
