Adrián Rubalcava, former mayor of Cuajimalpa, has assumed the leadership of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro in Mexico City, replacing Guillermo Calderón. Calderón, who previously served successfully in the Metrobús, was leading the renovation and modernization project of Line 1 of the Metro before his resignation.

The head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, has accepted the resignation of Guillermo Calderón, and he will continue in the government as a mobility advisor to complete the mentioned renovation project. Rubalcava, an experienced lawyer and administrator, was selected to lead the modernization process of the Metro effectively and transparently, committing to manage the institution with honesty.

In recent weeks, videos of Rubalcava inspecting the rehabilitation works of the STC Metro were shared on social media aligned with him. Despite previous criticisms of Clara Brugada's management on this issue, his appointment was backed by his experience and commitment to the city.

Previously, Rubalcava had expressed interest in joining the working team of President Claudia Sheinbaum, whom he supported in the 2024 campaign. Although this collaboration did not materialize, the former mayor expressed confidence in Sheinbaum, stating that "the president is a woman who always keeps her word, and the people who join her team are always well taken care of, so that gives me a lot of peace."
