The president of the Senate of the Republic, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, was involved in a new dispute with the opposition via Twitter, this time due to a video showing the politician getting into a luxury truck after a Morena meeting.
The message posted by the national leadership of the PRI criticized Fernández Noroña for his apparent liking for living luxuriously despite his populist discourse. In the video, a person questions the senator about his change of vehicle, to which he responds that the luxury truck was lent by the company Volvo, since his personal vehicle has been in repair for four months.
In response to the PRI's criticisms, Fernández Noroña defended his lifestyle, asserting that everything he has achieved is through his effort and work. Additionally, he expressed his annoyance and branded the opposition as thieves, repressive and fraudulent. He also reiterated that his truck is in the shop due to problems with parts coming from Sweden.
This is not the first time Gerardo Fernández Noroña has generated controversy for his lifestyle, which seems distant from his political speeches. Previously, he received criticism for traveling in a luxury class of an airline during an event in France. However, the politician has defended his actions arguing that he maintains a modest lifestyle and that his belongings were obtained through hard work.
