Indignation Over the Death of Two Young Girls in Sinaloa

Indignation Over the Death of Two Young Girls in Sinaloa

In an armed attack on Tuesday afternoon, the girls Leydi and Alexa, aged 11 and 7 respectively, lost their lives on federal highway 24, Badiraguato-Parral, near the town of La Lapara. Verona Hernández Valenzuela, spokesperson for the State Security Secretariat, confirmed the identities of the girls at a press conference on Wednesday and mentioned that the report was of two females deceased from gunfire in the community of La Cieneguilla.

According to the spokesperson, in addition to the two fatalities, there are three injured individuals, including a 12-year-old boy. The incidents occurred during an ambush between armed civilians and members of the Mexican Army on the aforementioned highway. The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, expressed his outrage over these events and assured that there will be no impunity.

Rocha Moya, in a press conference, stated his rejection of the violence in the state and affirmed that he will remain in contact with the affected families through various governmental entities. He highlighted that thorough investigations will be conducted and actions will be taken to the last consequences.

The governor emphasized that, despite arrests and seizures in the fight against crime, violence persists in Sinaloa. He committed to remaining steadfast in the fight against violence, assuring that the competent authorities are already carrying out the necessary investigations and reiterating his commitment to justice.
