Confrontation in Senate over Fobaproa Regulations

Rubén Moreira confronted Gerardo Fernández Noroña during Senate discussions about Fobaproa regulations, highlighting issues of intervention time and political agendas.

The president of the Senate's Board of Directors of the Republic, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, cut off the microphone of opposition senator Rubén Moreira from the PRI after he called him a "fascist," triggering a confrontation. This incident adds to other similar cases, such as that of PAN legislator Lilly Téllez in the past.

Moreira claimed that certain national issues were being avoided, such as the management of former president Ernesto Zedillo and the ranch in Teuchitlán, which was supposedly used as a training camp by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The discussion occurred in the context of the possible creation of a commission to investigate the Bank Savings Protection Fund (Fobaproa).

The PRI senator questioned the time allocated to Morena senators for intervention compared to that of the opposition and denied that it had been debated in the Board of Directors. Meanwhile, Noroña defended the established rules and accused Moreira of distracting public attention. The situation intensified when Moreira insisted on addressing the issue of Fobaproa.

These tensions reflect the political differences in the Senate of the Republic of Mexico, where disagreements between parties hinder debate on important issues for the country.
