The Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, explained why he has not yet visited the Izaguirre Ranch in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. The group that made the discoveries in that area accused him of not going to the site and trying to hide the truth about what happened there. Gertz Manero clarified that he never committed to going to the ranch, as it was under the jurisdiction of the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office.
He recalled that his commitment was to facilitate access to search groups for missing persons that requested it. Despite this, local authorities declared that the attorney general would attend the Izaguirre Ranch, which caused confusion. Gertz Manero highlighted that the groups reproached possible alterations at the scene by the Jalisco authorities.
In a press conference, the attorney general dismissed the presence of cremated human remains at the site, despite testimonies that reported them. The leader of the group, Indira Navarro, pointed out that the information was not being fully communicated to the prosecutor's office. Gertz Manero reiterated that the ranch was under the purview of local authorities.
The Attorney General's Office took control of the Izaguirre Ranch a month ago, although Gertz Manero has not been present at the site since then. Last week, members of the search group criticized the first report presented by the FGR on April 29.
