INE Cancels 17 Judicial Candidacies in Mexico

The National Electoral Institute in Mexico has approved the cancellation of 17 candidacies due to simultaneous registrations and resignations. This includes various candidates for judicial positions.


INE Cancels 17 Judicial Candidacies in Mexico

The National Electoral Institute approved the cancellation of 17 candidacies for the judicial election. This was due to some candidates registering for two positions simultaneously or resigning. Among the canceled candidacies are Gloria Rosa Santos Mendoza, a candidate for the Court; Claudia Leonor Galindo Soto and Erik Jiménez Contreras, candidates for circuit magistrates; Fabiola Judith Espina Reyes, Alejandro Torres Morán, Luis Gutiérrez Díaz, José Ernesto Moguel Espejo, and Elsa María Torres Valenzuela, candidates for district judges.

Gilberto Constituyente Salazar Ceballos, candidate for the Regional Chamber Xalapa of the TEPJF, José Rivas González, Gabriela Guadalupe Valencia, María Alejandra Bernal Sánchez, María del Carmen Cordero, Carlos Rafael Hernández, Cyntia Hernández Vera, Jorge Sánchez Aburto, and Angélica Jazmín Ramírez resigned from their candidacies in different categories.

In case additional resignations are presented by candidates holding two positions, the INE approved that if the person campaigned and incurred expenses, these must be added to the remaining position and comply with its spending cap. Furthermore, all candidates will have to submit a single report of expenses regarding the monitoring of income and expenditures before the approval of the cancellation of their candidacy.
