Woman Rescued, Kidnappers Arrested in Morelos, Mexico

In Morelos, a kidnapped woman was rescued alive and five alleged kidnappers were arrested during an operation in Tlaltizapán, in the southern part of the state. Authorities reported that the operation was carried out after locating a property linked to a criminal cell dedicated to kidnappings, home robberies, and crimes against public health. The victim was held captive for two nights before being released and is in good health. The five alleged kidnappers were handed over to the specialized Public Ministry, which will determine their legal situation. For the victim's safety and to ensure the investigation, no further details about the case have been disclosed. Between January and September 2025, Morelos recorded 17 kidnappings, representing a 240% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP) and the Morelos Rinde Cuentas Research Center. With a rate of 0.86 kidnappings per 100,000 inhabitants, the entity is among the four with the highest incidence nationwide. Authorities indicated that the detainees may be linked to a kidnapping that occurred on October 3 in the same area, and investigations are ongoing. They reiterated that coordinated operations will continue to strengthen crime prevention and combat in the region. The rescue was achieved through a coordinated deployment involving the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Morelos (SSPCM), and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE). Specialized units such as the Prosecutor's Office for the Investigation of High-Impact Crimes (FIDAI), the Specialized Unit for Combating Kidnapping (UECS), and the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) also participated.
