After the Income Law was approved yesterday in the Chamber of Deputies, President Claudia Sheinbaum clarified some doubts regarding the provisions of Article 25, which exempts companies participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup from taxes. In this regard, the head of state was quick to point out that these agreements were signed 'back in 2015, if I remember correctly,' during the six-year term of former President Enrique Peña Nieto. As she explained, the agreements were already signed and therefore must be respected for the development of the World Cup in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. 'It was a contract that was already established with Mexico. We changed some of those characteristics that had been set in those times,' she stated before recalling that it must now be fulfilled. It was a signed contract, and the law establishes it as such, because that's how it has to be. On the other hand, she announced that next Monday, instead of the morning press conference, there will be a presentation at Los Pinos regarding everything related to the World Cup. She also highlighted that she will ask the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) to provide more information on the agreement signed by EPN with FIFA.
