Mexico detains leader of a criminal network linked to the Jalisco Cartel

Mexico City, Oct 31 (EFE).- Mexican authorities this Friday detained three people, including Armando Nava Gallegos, alias 'Charro', a regional leader, main generator of violence, and in charge of drug distribution, extortion, kidnappings, and homicides for the criminal organization Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the central state of Aguascalientes.

Along with him, José Manuel 'N' and José 'N' were arrested following an investigation that identified two properties used by the alleged criminals as operation points and for safeguarding cash, vehicles, weapons, ammunition, and drugs.

After the detention approved by a control judge, the three men were made available to the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will determine their legal status, according to the Security Forces' press release.

According to sources, Nava Gallegos is a trusted man of drug lord Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, 'El Mencho,' founder and leader of the criminal organization, for whose capture the U.S. government offers a reward of 10 million dollars.

The operation involved elements from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), National Guard (GN), and Attorney General's Office (FGR).

The CJNG is one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in the world, with presence in almost all states of the nation and in other countries. It is also one of the six Mexican groups designated as terrorists by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in February, along with the Sinaloa, Gulf, Northeast, Michoacán Family, and United Cartels.
