The governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennisse García Muñoz Ledo, was publicly threatened by the priest Alfredo Gallegos, known as “Father Pistolas,” for her support of the Solís-León Aqueduct project.
The priest's statement occurred during a sermon for the Day of the Dead, and the video was shared on social media.
The aggression sparked reactions from federal authorities and lawmakers, who demanded the safety of women in public life be guaranteed.
Regarding the case, Citlalli Hernández Mora, head of the Secretariat for Women, stated that no woman should be a target of intimidation and called for “condemning all forms of violence” to prevent political disagreements from turning into attacks.
In response, García Muñoz Ledo affirmed to local media that she will continue in her duties.
She refused to file a formal complaint but insisted that criticism should not normalize aggression against women in decision-making positions.
Public reactions and possible legal or ecclesiastical actions have not yet been announced by the relevant authorities.
