As this news outlet revealed, the governor has been for months privately expressing his intention to members of the cabinet, senators, and morenist governors. His rhetoric has not changed. He points to the political shortcomings of Rodríguez in handling various public affairs, from the demands of corn producers and the assassination of the mayor of Uruapan to various infighting within the cabinet. Against this backdrop, he positions himself as a conflict-solver and an efficient spokesperson in crisis situations. The tragedy at the Waldos store is a blow to this narrative of great political ability because the governor's first reaction was to blame a transformer from the state-owned company CFE for the tragedy, which was poorly received by the company. In parallel, dissident groups of Durazo within the state's MORENA party allege that the store should have been closed for lacking evacuation routes and that its operation was due to some kind of collusion. This situation encourages other actors who want to reach Bucareli, such as Martí Batres, the head of the IMSS Zoé Robledo, or the head of office Lázaro Cárdenas Batel. They are lateral competitors if Omar García Harfuch's interest in Segob is confirmed. Durazo is aware of this calculation and therefore speculates about the leak of the alleged revocation of his son's U.S. visa.
