The coordinator of Morena in the local Congress, Mario Soto, presented a point of agreement addressed to the Secretary of the Environment of the State, Raúl Lozano, to report on and address the actions to resolve the environmental crisis in the entity. Soto Esquer requested that the state official resolve the emissions crisis from the quarries in the metropolitan area, ensuring their operation when they comply with the corresponding regulations, and not when they pay the taxes that the state government is so urgently seeking. Likewise, the local legislator urged for the updating and publication of the Atmospheric Contingency Response Plan; to request a budget to modernize the environmental monitoring stations; and to share the data on the resources allocated to Extreme Reforestation for the Citizens' Forests Program. Additionally, Soto included in the point of agreement that the state agency ensure that the discharges of Water and Sewage into the Pesquería River comply with the regulations and do not represent damage to said watercourse. "He considered that the Secretary of the Environment of the Government of the State of Nuevo León is an agency that has failed all citizens." "It is inadmissible that a public official who should be focused on his work to the maximum is currently doing campaigning for future political projects," he concluded. "Not only in its operation and compliance with its responsibilities, but in the seriousness that its heads have given to their work," considered the deputy. "We cannot fail to mention that in order to generate tricks to hide the poor air quality, they eliminated environmental alerts and have not been able to update their atmospheric contingency program, something terrible for the protection of people's health," he added. On the other hand, he accused the state official of early proselytism, being focused on electoral projects unrelated to the Environment. It should be recalled that both profiles, such as Mario Soto and Raúl Lozano, are candidates for governor in the upcoming elections.
