Major Arsenal of Weapons and Drugs Seized in Mexico

During a coordinated security operation in Michoacán, five people were arrested and a large arsenal of weapons, explosives, vehicles, and synthetic drugs was seized. The operation focused on the municipalities of Buenavista, Cotija, and Huetamo.

During coordinated security operations carried out from November 6 to 9 as part of the “Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice,” five people were arrested and a significant arsenal of weapons, explosives, vehicles, and synthetic drugs was seized.

The operation focused on the municipalities of Buenavista, Cotija, and Huetamo, yielding the following results.

In Huetamo, during land patrols, forces located and secured three machine guns, 11 long firearms, one grenade launcher, three grenades, 91 magazines, 2,878 cartridges, six vehicles, three motorcycles, 330 kilos of synthetic drugs, and tactical equipment. The five detainees were informed of their legal rights, and subsequently, along with all seized material, they were handed over to the corresponding agent of the Public Ministry, who will determine their legal status, according to the federal government report.

In Cotija, a vehicle in apparent abandonment was located containing a rifle, 20 magazines, 1,790 cartridges, and 52 kilos of explosive material.

Federal institutions that are part of the Security Cabinet reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of the inhabitants of Michoacán. In Cotija, five long firearms, 18 magazines, 1,250 cartridges, and tactical equipment were also secured.

In Buenavista, five people were arrested, two of them minors.
