In the midst of the race for the governorship of Nuevo León within Morena, candidates are actively campaigning. The mayor of Escobedo, Andrés Mijes, has recently intensified his efforts in the peripheral areas of the state, where the 'Fourth Transformation' (4T) holds its highest approval rating. According to LPO, the mayor has increased his media presence in municipalities on the outskirts of the metropolitan area, such as García, Juárez, Zuazua, Salinas Victoria, Pesquería, and El Carmen. This strategy aims to strengthen his image among 4T supporters and improve his standing with voters ahead of an internal poll, which could take place at the beginning of next year. In his promotional efforts, the mayor has had minor disputes with his counterpart in Salinas Victoria, Raúl Cantú, over the alleged allocation of road projects connecting the two municipalities and other factors. The mayor's team believes he has the best electoral chances compared to other Morena gubernatorial aspirants. However, they are concerned that over 50% of voters are unaware of him, according to a recent El Reforma poll. In this context, the mayor's team considers Tatiana Clouthier to be his main competitor in terms of name recognition. As LPO previously reported, she has a strong presence but faces challenges in translating that into territorial support. Another candidate who has begun his campaign is Waldo Fernández. He has boosted his advertising on the state's main avenues and has been working on the ground with key figures in Morena for a couple of months. While he is not currently favored in polls, he hopes to gain momentum in early 2026. Those who are lagging behind are Clara Luz Flores and Judith Díaz.
