Operation Sable: Mexico's Crackdown on Crime

The Mexican Navy has weakened the structure of the criminal group Los Cromo, linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which sought to control illicit activities in the area, such as human, weapon, and drug trafficking, as well as extortion and hydrocarbon theft. According to reports from the Security Cabinet, 53 alleged members of this organization have been detained in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office of Justice of Oaxaca. The operation "Sable" aims to reinforce the State's presence in areas with higher crime rates in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec Inter-oceanic Corridor, one of the country's most strategic infrastructure projects. The plan involves preventive actions in areas where risks associated with organized crime groups have been detected, operating under the coordination of the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), with the support of the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico.
