In an episode reflecting current political differences in Mexico, the leader of the PAN (National Action Party), Jorge Romero, launched open accusations against the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.
Romero questioned the honesty of the head of state, stating that her administration is marked by lies and distortions, and also criticized her for diverting attention from the serious problems the country faces. "I understand you are desperate. And if anyone is desperate, it's you, because you can no longer deceive Mexico," he stated.
In response, the leader of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde, energetically responded to these statements. Alcalde declared that the real crisis is not in the current administration, but in the credibility of her opponents. "And even if you don't care about the law, today I formally demand my right of reply, which is enshrined in the constitution, that in your morning press conferences, where you have the full apparatus of the State and the full weight of your government, you also publish this other part of the same interview that you so like to publish," she said.
Romero, for his part, explained that his comments were "metaphorical." "I said it metaphorically. For those of us who believe in institutions, (violence) is a step we will never take," he clarified.
The political tension in the country continues to grow, highlighting the deep divisions between Mexico's leading political forces.
