Mexico's President Denies Buying Miss Universe Title

President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, responded to questions regarding the new Miss Universe, Fátima Bosch; however, her uninterrupted response raised many doubts. Amid criticism on social networks against Fátima, the winner of Miss Universe, over her family's political ties and accusations of fraud to win the pageant, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo stated that it is completely false the claim that her government purchased the competition as a "distraction." Although up to this point nothing was unusual, the way she said "evidently it is not false" that the Government of Mexico bought the contest was problematic. She said it in a way that was the complete opposite of what she intended to express. Despite this, the head of state called the claim "ridiculous" and emphasized that Fátima Bosch is an example of courage, and urged people not to pay attention to these matters. She also reiterated her congratulations to the new Miss Universe, stating that beyond the criticisms, she has earned the crown and has spoken up when they tried to minimize her. The president accused this of being part of the "desperation" of the opposition, which, like the Miss Universe issue, also resorts to modifying original photos to create montages and cause controversies.
