An explosion was triggered by a mobile unit in the municipality of Dr. Coss. This municipality, governed by the Morena party (MC) under Mayor José Guadalupe Ríos Ríos, has a direct road connection to Reynosa, Tamaulipas. As authorities were heading to the scene, another explosive device damaged a Fuerza Civil (Civil Force) unit, injuring five officers. The first incident, which authorities have not officially reported, was reported by local residents at around 10:00 AM. Extremist violence on the border with Tamaulipas has become a constant issue. An explosion from a landmine was reported early in the morning in Dr. Coss, killing a local farmer. Tensions rose in Nuevo León's security departments due to a direct explosive attack on Fuerza Civil elements, leaving five police officers injured and, unofficially, one person dead. The attack on the officers occurred at approximately 1:00 PM in the Francisco I. Madero community. The connection with Tamaulipas has been a complication for the state government. In fact, at the beginning of 2025, five other Fuerza Civil officers were injured in an identical manner. Previously, it has been reported that the Northeast Cartel, with a strong presence in the neighboring state, has sought to penetrate Nuevo León.
