The Attorney General's Office of Oaxaca (FGEO) confirmed this Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the murder of the former mayor of Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán, Erasmo Medina. According to the text, published on its official X account, the first investigative work into the events that led to his death is already underway. The incident occurred Tuesday morning inside a residence in Xoxo. According to initial inquiries, the victim was attacked with firearm shots, suffering injuries that caused his death. In response to these events, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for High-Impact Crimes deployed a multidisciplinary team to carry out the corresponding procedures. Likewise, investigation folder number 33129/UEIH/2025 was initiated, with the objective of clarifying what happened and presenting to the competent authority whoever or whoever is responsible. “The Oaxaca Prosecutor's Office reaffirms its commitment to carry out exhaustive and effective investigations that guarantee adequate administration of justice, particularly in cases of high-impact crimes”.
