Hernán Bermúdez Requena, former Secretary of Security of Tabasco during the government of current MORENA senator Adán Augusto López Hernández, participated remotely in a judicial hearing where it was decided to extend the complementary investigation for three more months before reaching trial. The former police commander, known as "El Abuelo" or "El Comandante H", is accused of leading the criminal group "La Barredora", for which he faces charges of criminal association, express kidnapping, and extortion. He was linked to the process on September 23, with a deadline to complete the investigation by December 23 and call for trial. However, the Tabasco prosecutor's office requested more time to provide evidence that would help support the case. Local and national media reported that the legal defense of Bermúdez did not object to this request, so the judge in the case decided to accept it. The accused himself can take advantage of this time to strengthen his arguments and evidence that will be presented to the judge once the trial begins to determine his criminal responsibility. Hernán Bermúdez remains imprisoned in the high-security prison of "El Altiplano", where he was confined after being detained and expelled by the authorities of Paraguay. The case is being handled by the Judicial Power of Tabasco, so the detainee has the possibility to participate in this type of judicial hearings remotely.
