In a recent interview, PRI Senator Alito Moreno stated that the party will not ally with PAN and Movimiento Ciudadano for the 2030 presidential election. He emphasized that the primary goal is to build a strong opposition front, not to merge with 'inventive' parties. Moreno expressed displeasure at PAN's attempt to replace PRI in an alliance and stressed the need for a professional approach to the elections.
"Yes, I have publicly said it, I believe it was historic for Acción Nacional because it meant allying with the PRI, with this PRI, with this PRI leadership, and this is obviously for us, it makes us unviable," he said. "I am not going to do that, and the PRI won't either."
Moreno also noted that PRI will not challenge its position in the 2030 election and that victory must be based on real chances, not personal ambitions. He concluded by calling for a team of professionals capable of defeating Morena.
