Claudia Sheinbaum's public call is just the tip of the iceberg of the annoyance that exists in the National Palace due to the irresponsibility of Morena members in their day-to-day actions. 'Here there are no bodyguards or crystal castles far from the people; we rulers must live in modesty, close to the people and with humility... for the good of all, the poor first,' said President Claudia Sheinbaum during her tour in Guerrero. The president's statements are not in vain. They resonate after cases such as the detention of Alejandra Ang with 800,000 pesos in cash in Baja California; the controversial 200,000-peso necklace of Abelina López in Acapulco; and in parallel to the first-class flight from Rome of Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña. There is concern that these lapses by 4T actors will impact the polls for the 2027 elections. Faced with the scandals in Morena over various luxuries and ostentatious trips, the turbulent start of the pre-election year is beginning to worry the National Palace. While they believe it does not hit the party's hard electorate, it does handicap them in areas like the Bajío or the north of the country. The squandering of resources on travel, hotels, and luxury stores has been a constant for party actors for several months now.
