It should be recalled that the senator insists, both privately and in the media, on being the candidate for governor in 2027 as his daughter Evelyn Salgado's successor, challenging the anti-nepotism norms promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum. In response, the National Palace elevated the figure of Esthela Damián by naming her as the President's Legal Adviser, replacing Ernestina Godoy. This shows alignment in a complex dispute for the state heading into the 2027 electoral process. During an event in Atoyac de Álvarez, where the president met with coffee producers, Salgado Macedonio demonstrated the strong mobilization he commands in the Southern State. She is close to Omar García Harfuch and Sheinbaum Pardo, and is also willing to operate in Guerrero with a view to the 2027 governorship.
