Mexico Dismantles Three Narco-Labs, Seizes 700 Kilos of Methamphetamine

Mexican authorities conducted multiple operations in the states of Michoacán, Durango, and Sinaloa, dismantling three clandestine methamphetamine labs. Over 700 kilograms of the drug, along with significant quantities of chemical precursors and equipment, were seized. These measures, according to officials, aim to weaken criminal organizations and protect the population, especially youth, from the influence of illicit substances.

Mexican authorities dismantled three clandestine methamphetamine laboratories in Michoacán, Durango, and Sinaloa, and seized over 700 kilos of methamphetamine, as well as 12,000 liters and two tons of chemical precursors. The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, stated on social media that they “directly weaken the financial capacity of criminal organizations and prevent these illicit substances from reaching the population,” especially young people. In another communiqué released on Monday, the SSPC specified that the dismantling of the drug labs occurred during separate operations. The first took place during a land patrol in the locality of Carricitos, Durango, where a clandestine laboratory was located. Authorities seized 1,150 liters and 695 kilos of chemical precursors and materials used for the production of synthetic drugs. “The laboratory had extensive operational areas, materials, and accessories for the production of synthetic drugs, which were completely disabled to prevent their reuse,” the department stated. The second operation occurred in Sinaloa, in the town of Los Cedros, where a clandestine laboratory was dismantled, and approximately 750 kilos of finished product, as well as 1,150 liters and 695 kilos of chemical precursors, were seized. Meanwhile, in the state of Michoacán, in the locality of La Escondida, in coordination with elements of the State Secretariat of Public Security, a laboratory was dismantled where 9,700 liters and 500 kilos of chemical precursors, as well as laboratory equipment and tools, were confiscated. The operation involved the Secretariats of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, of National Defense, the SSPC, the Attorney General's Office, and the National Guard. Since February 5, when the “Operation Northern Border” was agreed upon with U.S. President Donald Trump to curb the “invasion” of migrants and drugs and thus avoid the imposition of a 25% tariff on national products, Mexico has detained 10,627 people and seized 7,766 firearms.
