The government of Mexico announced on Tuesday the transfer of 37 prisoners held in various penitentiaries to the United States, as they are considered a real threat to national security and are sought for their ties to criminal organizations. This is the third such transfer carried out during the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum. The announcement was made by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, who informed that the operation was carried out as part of the bilateral cooperation mechanisms between both countries. "This morning, Mexico's Security Cabinet transferred to the United States 37 operators of criminal organizations who represented a real threat to the country's security. This is 37 prisoners linked to organized crime. The action was carried out in accordance with the National Security Law, with full respect for national sovereignty," the official stated in a message shared on social networks. According to security sources cited by the EFE agency, among those transferred is Ricardo González Sauceda, alias 'El Ricky', identified as a regional leader of the Northeast Cartel. The alleged criminal operated in the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas, and was transferred to San Antonio, Texas, where he is wanted by U.S. authorities for crimes linked to organized crime. The transfer of these high-profile prisoners is part of the Mexican government's security strategy, aimed at reducing risks within the penitentiary system and strengthening international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and transnational crime.
