Baja California Governor Confirms Investigation into Her Ex-Husband

The Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, confirmed that the Attorney General's Office (FGR) is maintaining an investigation file against her ex-husband, Carlos Torres Torres, stemming from an anonymous complaint. During a press statement, the state governor noted that the investigation corresponds exclusively to the FGR and affirmed that she trusts the development of the process. "I am convinced that the Attorney General's Office is a very serious institution and that it will conduct a thorough investigation to establish the facts," she said. Ávila Olmeda indicated that the complaint has been public knowledge for several weeks, after summonses allegedly linked to the same file were made public. "It is vital to distinguish that this is not an investigation based on facts, but a procedural protocol in response to an anonymous statement," she explained. In his own statement, Carlos Torres Torres expressed his willingness to cooperate with federal authorities and affirmed that he will face the legal process to clarify any allegations. "I declare my total willingness to clarify these anonymous slanders: I have nothing to hide," he stated, while expressing confidence that the investigation will allow the accusations to be dismissed and due process to be guaranteed. Carlos Torres Torres has a political career spanning more than two decades. He was a federal deputy from 2006 to 2009 and held various positions as an advisor and federal delegate. In October 2025, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda confirmed that she is in the process of divorcing Torres Torres, to whom she was married in 2019.
