In the ruling party, it is still unknown whether he will run for the mayorship currently governed by opposition figure Giovani Gutiérrez or to maintain his seat in San Lázaro. This way, it could generate a new, so far unexpected problem for local leadership, considering the battles in other mayoralties such as Cuauhtémoc, Gustavo Madero, or Xochimilco. For example, in 2018 he won the capital's 6th district, which includes this demarcation along with La Magdalena Contreras, but not Coyoacán. In any case, some figures are already making moves in the different mayoralties. According to explanations from the 4T, his friendship with Mayor Javier López Casarín would push him to seek new horizons so as not to interfere with the existing political setup, especially since he currently holds a proportional representation seat. The second reason is the strong disputes within the 4T over the various candidatures at stake in Coyoacán. The first, and most important, is that his political career after his time on national television has always been linked to the Álvaro Obregón mayoralty. The national leadership of Morena is advancing, off the record, that the first electoral disputes to be resolved for the 2027 elections will be for the governorships. This is the case, for example, of federal deputy Sergio Mayer, who generates discontent in the 4T with his attempts to position himself in Coyoacán. In recent weeks, as local sources have acknowledged to this newsroom, the federal deputy launched a positioning program in the demarcation with an eye on the 2027 elections. They accuse 'Lobito' of assaulting a deputy and of kidnapping the CDMX Congress. In any case, this has not generated the best repercussions in the ruling party for two main reasons.
