Mexico's Secretary of Defense, General Ricardo Treviño Trejo, detailed the operation carried out on Sunday in Jalisco that resulted in the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The Secretary General provided a profile of the drug lord and pointed out that the military intelligence work of the Mexican Army led to his location. He highlighted the role of the Special Forces personnel and the Immediate Reaction Force of the National Guard (GN), which carried out the planning. He noted that the trail of Oseguera Cervantes' romantic partner, through a trusted man, was key to achieving the operation's objectives. Omar García Harfuch reported on violent reactions afterward and a coordinated deployment with Defense, Navy, and National Guard, as well as state and municipal authorities, to free up roadways. He reported 85 blockades on federal highways in 11 entities, 70 detainees in seven states, and highlighted that there are no longer any blockades this Monday. President Claudia Sheinbaum explained that the understanding with the United States is based on information exchange, without the operational participation of U.S. forces. Journalist Anabel Hernández warned that after the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, an internal dispute within the CJNG could erupt, which 'could be a real massacre'.
