CJNG Cartel Threatens to Kill Mexican Officials Over 'El Mencho's' Body

The arrest of Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as 'El Mencho', has triggered a wave of violence across Mexico. The CJNG has issued an ultimatum, threatening to kill officials and civilians nationwide if authorities do not hand over his body to his family. In response, the Attorney General's Office has begun the process of releasing the remains.

The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) reports that during constant monitoring of open sources, a news article was detected on the digital portal 'Noticias Chihuahua', titled 'CJNG THREATENS TO KILL OFFICIALS ACROSS MEXICO IF 'EL MENCHO'S BODY IS NOT DELIVERED BY 01:00; REPORTING BLOCKADES AND VEHICLE BURNINGS'. The article states that according to received reports, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) threatens to kill public officials and civilians across the country, also mentioning threats against governors and warning that if the demand is not met, 'they will march with blood across all of Mexico'. Elsewhere, it speaks of proceeding 'to kill public officials and civilians throughout the country'. However, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) reported that a legal representative of Mencho's family has filed a request with the FGR to initiate the delivery of the CJNG leader's body. There was even a jailbreak of 23 inmates from the municipal prison, who are still at large. This Wednesday, in the country's capital, an intense mobilization of emergency services was registered in the San Ángel neighborhood, Álvaro Obregón mayor's office, following the evacuation of the Prisma Tower, which houses offices of the Federal Judiciary. This was the result of a 911 call alerting to the presence of a bomb in the building. The report was made by a security guard at the building, located at number 2065 on Avenida Insurgentes Sur. He stated that the caller, who identified himself as a CJNG member, sowed panic among employees and visitors, even though no object that could endanger people's physical safety was found. Trump claimed credit for 'El Mencho's' death and said that 'tariffs will save us from Chinese and Mexican exploitation'. At the same time, an intelligence document drafted by members of the Secretariat of National Defense was seen by the media. It was sent to the State Coordination General Headquarters in Coahuila, Piedras Negras, informing that the CJNG issued an ultimatum 'if the body of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes is not delivered at the agreed-upon time'. The arrest and death of Mencho, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, unleashed a wave of violence in 20 states of the country. Nemesio Oseguera was captured this Sunday in Tapalpa, Jalisco, shortly after dawn in an operation by the Secretariat of National Defense that had the collaboration of the United States in intelligence matters. The police-military deployment resulted in 252 drug blockades on primary and secondary roads, as well as vehicle burnings and attacks on gas stations and businesses in states such as Baja California, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas, according to the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico. Naturally, it was in Jalisco where the most complicated events for the authorities took place. At the Guadalajara International Airport, 56 flights were canceled, and in Puerto Vallarta, another 87, a municipality where the drug blockages also sparked fear in its streets. 'Normally, the remains are claimed by the family and delivered,' declared the head of the Federal Security Secretariat during the morning briefing at the National Palace. Currently, the corpse is in the custody of the Mexican Forensic Service, and the social representative must exhaust all procedural protocols to formalize the delivery under proper conditions, according to the authority's communiqué. Secretary Omar García Harfuch had already anticipated last Monday, a day after the operation, that they expected someone from Oseguera's family circle to initiate the process for the delivery of his body.
