The Attorney General of the state of Querétaro, Víctor de Jesús Hernández, presented the report on the institution's activities for the year 2026, highlighting an increase in the number of searches, a historic reduction in intentional homicides, and zero kidnappings in the entity. The 'Sinergia' operation has allowed the agency to work under the idea that greater operational capacity translates into a lower crime rate. Implemented since January 2025, it has enabled the State Secretariat for Citizen Security of Querétaro, municipal security departments, and federal institutions such as the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the Attorney General of the Republic to work together. The results presented show that 2,199 searches were conducted, triple the number of the previous year, making the state's attorney's office the institution in the country that carries out the most of these types of procedures. This led to the confiscation of 31,000 doses of drugs, a 317% increase over the previous period, as well as the removal of 533 weapons and 24,000 cartridges from the streets. The Attorney General highlighted that in 2025, not a single kidnapping was reported, and the same is true for 2026 so far, which he described as an encouraging result. 'According to official data, the state closed 2025 and maintains 2026 without a single kidnapping case. It is truly a very encouraging figure. Similarly, regarding investigations prior to 2025, 21 convictions were obtained for kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, and extortion.' The Attorney General concluded his report by stating that 'Sinergia' is the measure to combat crime in the state and is not a personal project, but a strategy to guarantee the security of the population. 'Sinergia allows for the articulation of capabilities, sharing of information, and coordination of actions to prevent, investigate, and combat crime permanently. In Querétaro, coordination between security institutions has evolved and become Sinergia. I am convinced that the purpose of Sinergia responds to the fulfillment of the general interest of society and not to a personal, family, or temporary project.' In addition to the disabling of 322 properties, 510 vehicles, and the detention of 1,105 people caught in the act or under an arrest warrant. Regarding the number of investigations, 55,000 were initiated last year, a decrease of 3,000 files, meaning 5% less than the previous period. Furthermore, 55,212 investigation files were resolved during this period, meaning more files were resolved than were initiated. He also clarified that 52 of these cases are related to the usurpation of professions by pseudomedical professionals who performed aesthetic procedures without the corresponding legal requirements. Regarding intentional homicides, the Attorney General reported a 29% decrease in these crimes, thanks to the actions of the Sinergia strategy. Additionally, a 70% effectiveness rate was achieved in reported cases, a figure higher than the national average of 11%. 'I can tell you that it is the highest figure for the reduction in domestic incidence in the entire history of Querétaro, which coincides with the emergence and start of operations of the Sinergia strategy in Querétaro.' In femicides, he reported 12 investigation files initiated for this crime, in all cases the responsible party was identified and 9 convictions were obtained.
