Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio admitted that he faces a clear impediment to running for governor of Guerrero in 2027, as his daughter, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, is the current state governor. The legislator addressed the recent statements by the national leader of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde Luján, regarding guidelines on non-reelection and electoral nepotism, and expressed his support for the measures promoted by his party. Salgado Macedonio expressed his satisfaction with what was approved in the Senate of the Republic in electoral matters, considering that although it was not approved in its entirety, significant progress was made, and he specified that issues such as the recall of mandate were pending for a later stage. In his social media message, he reiterated his stance against re-election and stated that he also opposes nepotism, although he made a distinction between this concept and elected positions. “I understand that nepotism involves favoring family members with administrative positions, which is classified as a crime. However, elected positions derive from the will of the people,” he explained. At the same time, he recalled that the reforms on nepotism and non-reelection approved in the Senate would have constitutional application until 2030, although Morena has proposed advancing them to the 2027 electoral process. In this context, the senator acknowledged that the party statutes could prevent him from running: “I have an impediment because my daughter is a governor, but I am proud of her performance,” he expressed, highlighting that the state governor remains among the best-rated in the country. Despite this, he made it clear his permanence in the party: “I am with Morena and I am not going to leave for another political institution, even if some suggest it.” Salgado Macedonio responds to his detractors. During the same broadcast, the senator also attacked his detractors, accusing them of inconsistency for criticizing nepotism while keeping relatives in public office. In addition, he questioned those who have security from the National Guard, pointing out that “when a person is clean, they do need protection.” Finally, he expressed his desire for Guerrero to be governed by profiles with qualities such as prudence, intelligence, and social commitment.
