Alcalde defends reform and highlights Sheinbaum's strong leadership

Morena leader Luisa María Alcalde stated that the electoral reform 'Plan B' is a great triumph against privileges in Mexico. She cited examples of high official salaries and accused the opposition of disinformation.

Luisa María Alcalde, the national leader of Morena, stated that the electoral reform 'Plan B', proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, is a 'great triumph' and 'progress against privileges'. She emphasized that the goal of the reform was to reduce privileges, citing examples: a local deputy from Baja California costs 16 million pesos, and members of the National Electoral Institute (INE) earn 160,000 pesos monthly, more than the president of the republic. Alcalde also mentioned that in some municipalities, the large number of regidores exhausts the budget, leaving no funds for water, drainage, or paving. In response to criticism from the opposition and experts, she stated that those who felt like owners of Mexico are spending millions on disinformation and lies. Alcalde announced that Morena will launch a national campaign to explain the content and benefits of the reform. She also highlighted that President Claudia Sheinbaum's leadership is stronger than ever and is recognized by the people.
