Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum spoke about the controversy surrounding the funding of Nicolás Maduro's defense in the United States and stated that, in her view, there would be no reason to prevent the use of Venezuelan funds. From the National Palace, the head of state responded that "he was president of Venezuela" and added that she sees no reason why those resources could not be used. "Well, he was president of Venezuela. I don't see why Venezuelan funds cannot be used," she replied to a direct question from Publimetro. It should be mentioned that the issue gained traction after Maduro's defense denounced that Washington blocked the Venezuelan government, now headed by Delcy Rodríguez, from being able to pay part of its legal services. "Has Sheinbaum communicated with Delcy?" On the other hand, Sheinbaum shared that to date she has not had any communication with Delcy Rodríguez, vice president of Venezuela, to learn more details about the situation in the country. "I have not spoken to her (Delcy) but we can talk soon, it's not that I don't want to talk to her, it's simply that the opportunity has not arisen, but we can talk to her," she clarified. Additionally, President Claudia Sheinbaum took the opportunity to reaffirm her stance that she and her administration are against any intervention by a foreign country in another nation. "You know our position regarding the intervention of the United States in Venezuela and the intervention of any country in another country, by Constitution and by conviction," she concluded.
